Knitting in May

I put these aside to make the blue socks for last month. Got these puppies finished! They were a bit on the slow side. Clandestine by Cookie A. for Knitty.com Fall 2009. I used Knit Picks Gloss in the fingering weight in the Serengeti color way. I was a bit annoyed, one of the hanks had 2 breaks in it, so I had to splice the yarn.

I wasn't able to post during April. Life intervened! So I didn't realize how much I had knitted in that 2 month time period. Maybe my husband has a point--he says I am always knitting!! The sweater is a Top Down Swing Coat. The pattern is designed by Deb Gemmell of Cabin Fever. The yarn was Bernat Softee Chunky in the faded denim colorway. It was interesting doing it from the top down. I also did the sleeves in the round so I didn't have to seam it.
In the other picture, from left to right: Hug Me Socks from the Six Socks KAL in Plymouth Yarn Happy Feet in color #22.
The next socks are the Spring Socks also from the Six Socks KAL in Knit Picks Bare. I dyed them using food coloring. I really like the red and blue mixture.
Third is an iPad cover. The pattern was from the Haramis Designs blog. The yarn is Noro from Japan. The color description on the yarn wrap is in Japanese so I don't know its name!! The color number is 270.
Lastly is my iPad cover from the same pattern. I used Caron Simply Soft yarn in denim. I have made 5 different things from this color! I love it.
Hopefully I won't go so long in between posts!!

May Projects Completed

This was the month for catching up on UFOs. The socks are Hedera by Cookie A., made in Panda Cotton for my mom for Mother's Day. They are jet black--don't know why the photo showed up blue. The shawl is Coquille from Knitty.com, made with handmaiden Sea Silk in the Blackberry colorway. My new DIL wore it at her wedding reception and got loads of compliments. The hat is Scrappy Hat that I found on Ravelry, I think, with matching mittens. made from Paton Classic Wool, worsted weight, for Wool Aid. I also finished three pair of toddler size and kids' size socks for Wool Aid, but three project photos is enough!

Name That Yarn Contest Winner!

Obviously all of you are much better at naming yarn skeins than I am.  I loved each one!  As a result I put it to fate and did a drawing instead.

And the winner is...............Sandy and Steve!!!  The yarn colorway will be named "Vancouver".

Please go to my store and select the items you would like from the selection of patterns and stitch markers then email me with the name of the items and your address.  I will email the pattern to you and then send the stitch markers snail-mail.

We will be doing this again so check in to see what's next.

Happy Knitting,

Name That Yarn Contest

Wow! It's been too long.  Let's do something fun...something that includes a prize for someone?  I have dyed some yarn, some really nice yarn :o) However, I am struggling to name the colorway.  So, I thought I would put it to all of you to see if one of you could give it a name that fits.

The yarn is a luscious blend of superwash wool, silk, and bamboo.  It has a bit of luster to it and the colors are really deep and rich.  So here is the skein:
Saphire blue, emerald green, and a black.  The colors blend where each color turns into the next so there are also blue/green, dark steel blue, and a forest green.

Who ever can give this yarn a name that I like can choose a set of stitch markers and one of my patterns from my store as their prize!!

Good Luck!
